Marvel announces Wakanda, the Black Panther Spinoff Series

Marvel is highlighting the African nation of Wakanda in a new limited series this fall. Instead of focusing on the black panther, the new Wakanda The series stars several characters from the franchise, including Shuri and Killmonger. Wakanda Spins from running John Ridley Black Pantherwho turned T’Challa into an outlaw who no longer belongs to his homeland. every number of Wakanda It will highlight a different fan-favorite character, with the first issue starring Shuri in a story by writer Stephanie Williams and artist Paco Medina. There will also be a backup story “The History of the Black Panther” woven through each issue by writer Evan Narcisse and artist Natasha Bustos.

More creators on Wakanda It’ll be announced later, but for now, we know that the first issue of Stephanie Williams and Paco Medina will start with an in-depth story about Shuri, T’Challa’s genius younger sister, the same former Black Panther character. Since Wakanda is currently without the Black Panther to defend it, these characters will rise to protect their great nation.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Black Panther over the years, especially the evolution and expansion of The Wakanda Women. It’s really an honor to begin the new series with Shuri’s story that I’ve written. I hope I can add to her and the already impressive traditions of Wakanda,” Williams said.

The History of the Black Panther stand-up stories from Evan Narcisse and Natasha Bustos provide, for the first time, a definitive overview of all the Wakanda who have carried the mantle of the Black Panther.

“I have been a fan of the charm and scale of Natasha Bustos for a long time and I am delighted to be collaborating with her to take a fresh look at the history of Wakanda,” Narcisse said. “The tale we tell will give readers a deeper insight into how in the past the Black Panthers led the undefeated world to glory and left a remarkable legacy that Emperor T’Challa continues to embody.”

Wakanda #1, the first issue of the five-issue series, goes on sale October 12. You can find her seam and wrappers below.
